Description

EMAX ESP10V080V3-208 10 HP Silent Air | 38 CFM | 208/230V 3Ph

38 CFM at 100 PSI | 175 PSI Maximum | 208/230V Three Phase | 80-Gallon Vertical Receiver

The EMAX ESP10V080V3-208 E450 Silent Air is an industrial 10 HP two-stage piston air compressor for facilities with 208/230V three-phase service. It combines 38 CFM at 100 PSI with a pressure-lubricated cast-iron pump, factory Silent Air™ intake silencer, 80-gallon vertical air tank and maintenance-oriented E450 features.

Its automatic receiver drain and belt tensioner are useful upgrades for commercial and industrial shops. The appropriate compressor still depends on simultaneous tool consumption, required working pressure and the amount of time air is needed during each shift.

Key Features and Benefits

  • 10 HP | 38 CFM at 100 PSI: Air delivery for demanding pneumatic tools and workstations.
  • 175 PSI Maximum: Capability for higher-pressure regulated shop systems.
  • 208/230V Three-Phase: For industrial electrical service; verify available voltage before ordering.
  • Pressure-Lubricated Cast-Iron Pump: Direct oil delivery to internal bearings and other wear points.
  • Silent Air™ Intake: Patented intake-noise suppression without a full enclosure.
  • Automatic Timed Tank Drain: Helps remove moisture from the air receiver.
  • Adjustable Belt Tensioner: Makes routine drive-belt adjustments easier.
  • 80-Gallon Vertical Receiver: Compressed-air storage in a compact floor footprint.

Why Pressure Lubrication Matters

Unlike a conventional splash-lubricated piston pump, EMAX's pressure-lubricated pump family uses a gear-driven oil pump and rifle-drilled crankshaft and connecting-rod passages to distribute oil directly to critical bearing surfaces. A serviceable spin-on oil filter helps remove contaminants, and an oil-pressure gauge provides an operating check. Regular oil and filter maintenance remains essential.

Cast-Iron Construction and Rebuildable Components

EMAX describes cast-iron crankcases, cylinders, cylinder heads, connecting rods, crankshafts and high-pressure pistons in its pressure-lubricated pump family. Its two-stage low-pressure pistons use aluminum to limit reciprocating mass. Four-ring pistons help reduce blow-by and oil carryover. Concentric disc valves and replaceable bearing components provide practical service access.

Silent Air™ Intake Noise Reduction

Silent Air™ uses a patented arrangement of intake baffle plates and high-capacity filter media to reduce intake noise. EMAX advertises up to 50% quieter operation for the technology; results depend on location, operating conditions and installation. Unlike a cabinet-enclosed compressor, major mechanical components remain accessible.

Heavy-Duty Belt Drive, Cooling and Maintenance

The EMAX 7.5–10 HP pressure-lubricated pump family uses a heavy cast-iron flywheel with cooling fins and two B-groove drive belts. Dual belts increase contact area and distribute mechanical load. The E450 belt tensioner improves belt adjustment accessibility, while its automatic condensate drain can operate on adjustable intervals from 1 to 45 minutes.

EMAX describes head-unloader options for higher-duty applications. Exact inclusion and duty-cycle suitability on ESP10V080V3-208 should be verified rather than assumed. These options are not the same as a guaranteed 100% duty cycle.

Verified Motor and Pump Configuration

EMAX specifies the APP4V1043TP cast-iron pump operating at 730 RPM, driven by a 1,740 RPM TEFC three-phase motor. This configuration includes the pump riser, belt tensioner, magnetic starter, Silent Air intake, and automatic receiver drain. The radiator aftercooler is not included.

The manufacturer lists 27.90 A full-load current including the 1.15 service factor, 171 A starting/locked-rotor current, and a 50 A recommended breaker. An electrician must validate branch-circuit sizing, protection, and 208/230V voltage compatibility for the actual installation.

Premium Cooling, Drive, and Automatic Drain

The two-belt B-groove flywheel drive spreads contact across both belts for reliable power transmission and can help reduce bearing loading when correctly tensioned. EMAX describes a cast-iron flywheel with nine cooling fins in its 10 HP pump family, and the fitted pump riser improves cooling airflow below the crankcase.

The electric dual-timer automatic receiver drain permits adjustable 1–45 minute drain intervals and user-adjustable valve-open duration, helping reduce moisture buildup and routine manual draining.

E350 vs. E450: Making the Right Choice

The comparable E350 and E450 10 HP units are both listed at 38 CFM at 100 PSI. The E350 is a simpler configuration with manual receiver drainage. The E450 adds an automatic drain, belt tensioner and additional operating features. Those are maintenance and operating upgrades rather than increased rated airflow.

Installation and System Sizing

  • Verify three-phase voltage and electrical starting requirements with a qualified electrician.
  • Compare 38 CFM output with the combined demand of tools operating at the same time.
  • Allow service clearance and adequate cooling airflow around the pump and motor.
  • Evaluate actual compressor duty cycle before extended high-demand operation.

For moisture-sensitive processes, consider a correctly sized air dryer, in-line filtration, and compressor maintenance supplies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the 208/230V three-phase model?

Yes. ESP10V080V3-208 is the 208/230V three-phase version. It should not be connected to single-phase power; verify motor nameplate and electrical protection before installation.

How much air does it produce?

The published compressor output is 38 CFM at 100 PSI, with maximum operating pressure of 175 PSI.

What is the difference between E350 and E450?

The E450 adds an automatic tank drain, belt tensioner and manufacturer-listed continuous-run features to the pressure-lubricated pump and Silent Air configuration.

Is Silent Air included?

Yes. The patented intake silencer is included with this model.

Does it require an external air dryer?

A dryer is not included. Select air treatment appropriate for the downstream equipment and required air quality.

Does it have a pressure-lubricated pump?

Yes. EMAX's gear-driven oil pump sends filtered lubricant to bearing surfaces through drilled oil passages.

Can it operate continuously?

Manufacturer continuous-run features do not themselves establish a 100% duty-cycle rating. Verify head unloaders and expected duty cycle for the installation.

What does the automatic drain do?

It discharges condensate from the receiver on an adjustable timed cycle, reducing the need for manual drainage.

What maintenance does it need?

Follow the specified pump-oil and filter service intervals, inspect the belts, maintain the Silent Air intake and service the automatic condensate drain.
